There's a lot of free information in the world, but the problem is GUIDANCE.

The mistake I made when I was handed over the responsibility of concept design of the first electric powertrain at 👉 Team Ethan Racing Electric was -

STARTING THE POWERTRAIN CONCEPT DESIGN DIRECTLY ON MATLAB/SIMULINK/SIMSCAPE.

What happens is the first principle design thinking and calculations are missed in the process.

It took me 8 months of rigorous, Iterations, googling, reading research papers, to get to a point that something foundational is missing.

Matlab has a preset template upon which you iterate and add custom blocks to get the result. It may get frustrating if you don't know the basics.

The catch is that the system has to be understood first via basic power equations and simple models.

Design judges never focus on the tools you have used (SW, ANSYS, Matlab,...). Rather they'll ask you the governing equation behind the design and how you moved from base level estimations to higher-level accurate physical models.

Prerequsites:- Matlab Onramp ⭐

1. Check the " wheel-2-well-calculation " sheet. ( "Read-me", sheet to be read first)
   Wheel to well analysis refers to the derivation of your well (Motor) with respect to the performance requirements of the car ( power at the wheel).
2. After finalizing the mechanical motor power. Next, you should move to dynamic laptime modeling in OptimumLAP software (FREE), and analyze the data in Matlab. (FREE for students)

3. The data acquired should be used in "battery-configuration-cells-selection-sheet" Bundled in this post to get the battery pack finalized.

There you go, your setup is ready for prototype manufacturing. The prototype can be used for data acquisition.
